Yama Enshin with Turquoise Inlay
The enshin is one of the “Nine Classical Needles” mentioned in the Ling Shu in various chapters. Enshin means simply “round needle.” Enshin can be found in Japan made of every possible metal. Our Gentle Spirit Yama Enshin is made of hand-forged silver.
The narrow end can be placed on tight-tender points and gently tapped repeatedly, while the round end is ideal for stroking downward on the sternocleidomastoid and scalene muscles. The neck is a hidden key in many conditions (e.g., chronic headaches, sinus conditions, hypertension, etc.) and the Gentle Spirit Enshin is a valuable tool to make positive changes in tissues that hold too much tension.
The markings on the Yama Enshin are a reference to mountains, which play a key role in traditional Navajo cosmology—the sacred mountains of the Navajo mark the boundaries of their tribal lands. As it turns out, mountains have a special place in the Japanese and the Chinese cosmologies as well. Mountains were considered places of peace and power, and pilgrimages to the sacred mountains are still common today.
This version includes a triangular turquoise inlay.
